Southeast Polk Bullying and Violence Prevention Programs

 Grades Kindergarten - 8 

Purpose: To provide students with opportunities for preventative character education, open dialogue between student/teacher, and provide a process for reporting / investigation of potential bullying cases.

Definition of Bullying: “Bullying is when a student repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another student who has difficulty defending himself/herself.”

Goals of Olweus:

  1. Character education
  2. Report peer conflict situations and provide conflict resolutions
  3. Report bullying situations and provide consequences
  4. Promote a positive school culture

           Grades 9 - 12

Purpose: To provide student mentors with opportunities to change the school culture, address negative gender stereotypes, and open dialogue about gender violence.

Goals of MVP:

  1. Student-facilitated discussion
  2. Address harassment / violence  related to gender stereotypes
  3. Challenge faulty thinking
  4. Promote a positive school culture
