Highlights from the April 21, 2020, Southeast Polk Special Board of Education Meeting

**These are highlights and should not be considered official minutes**

Approvals

  • The Board approved the closure of all Southeast Polk District Schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year as ordered by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
  • The Board approved to continue with the current 2019-2020 Board-approved calendar,  without making up the January 2020 snow day. The final day of school is May 29, 2020.
  • The Board approved to continue employee compensation as normal through the end of the current school year. Classified employees will be paid based on regularly scheduled hours and certified employees paid based on their contract.
  • The Board approved the Resolution – Pandemic Response and Emergency Suspension of Policy. 
  • The Board approved staff to continue to work on solutions to provide internet access to families that indicated no current access.

  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Superintendent, provided an update to the board.
