Highlights from the February 6, 2020, Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

Approvals

  • The Board approved the grant projects as they appear in the resolution to the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino Community Betterment Grant Program.
  • The Board approved the lease agreement between the City of Altoona and the District.
  • The Board approved the various policies listed as a first read.

Presentations/Discussions:

  • J. Benjamin Champ, Pleasant Hill City Administrator, discussed some sewer line infiltration challenges being analyzed by the City around the District campus east of 80th Street including District Office, Junior High, Spring Creek, Transportation and Building and Grounds buildings. 
  • Mattia Hansen, Director of Community Relations, provided an update on the Southeast Polk Employee Wellness Program.
  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Superintendent, and Board of Education Members Tom Naeve and Adam Krell shared information about their experiences at the Day on the Hill event. 
  • Joseph Horton, Associate Superintendent, shared information about our Teacher Leadership Program and Compensation system that the district has had in place for five years.
