Highlights from the June 13, 2019 Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

Approvals:

  • The board approved the next meeting date for July 18, 2019.
  • The board approved the purchase of the Lenovo 300e Chromebooks from Firefly Computers for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved the 2019-2020 handbook changes.
  • The board approved the FY20 board meeting schedule.
  • The board approved a one year extension of audit services performed by Bohnsack & Frommelt LLP for fiscal year 2019.
  • The board approved the School Resource Officer (SRO) Law Enforcement Agreement with the City of Pleasant Hill for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved the agreement with the Greater Altoona Community Service Campus for the Kids Klub program for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved a one year extension with Anderson Erickson Dairy for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved a one year renewal of contract with Bimbo Bakeries USA to be the bread supplier during the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved a one year renewal contract with Martin Bro’s Distributing for food & supplies and EMS Detergent Services for chemicals for the 2019-2020 school year. Administration also recommends that Loffredo Fresh Produce be retained for an additional year for produce.
  • The board approved the renewal of contract with General Parts LLC for preventative maintenance and service for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved the inter-fund transfer from the Food Service Fund to the General Fund.
  • The board approved meal prices to complete their approval of all Student-Related Fees for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The board approved the “Return to Play” protocols for implementation in the Southeast Polk Community School District.
  • The board approved the “Return to Learn” protocols for implementation in the Southeast Polk Community School District.

Presentations/Discussions:

  • Scott Crawford, with RDG Planning and Design, shared an update on the progress and discussion of a possible new or remodeled Southeast Polk Stadium and multipurpose complex.
  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Southeast Polk Superintendent, provided his monthly update.
  • Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, provided a monthly financial report.
  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Southeast Polk Superintendent, shared IASB legislative priorities for the board to review for the next meeting.
  • The board heard a recommendation to retain the district’s current photography vendor, Sherrylynn Photography.
