Highlights from the September 5, 2019, Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

  • Stephen Pettit, High School Principal, shared an update on the advanced placement program. 
  • Jason Kurth, Director of Technology, provided an update on this year’s 1:1 Chromebook deployment in grades 2 – 8. 
  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Southeast Polk Superintendent, shared key dates for the upcoming school board election. 
  • Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, provided an update on the repairs being made to the high school roof and stadium scoreboard. 
    • On Tuesday, August 20, severe weather passed through the area causing damage to the high school roof allowing rainwater to enter the building’s northwest corner. The roof damage was more extensive than initially thought and the District is currently working with vendors and the insurance provider to make repairs. There was also damage to the stadium video board.
  • Joseph Horton, Associate Superintendent, provided an update on enrollment.
