Southeast Polk families,

The 2019-2020 school year is less than a few weeks away! In an effort to prepare you and your child(ren) for the upcoming school year, below is important information regarding school meals at Southeast Polk. Parents of elementary students, please pay extra attention to item #7.

  1. SchoolCafe – Use this resource to view purchase history, set limits and restrictions, set low balance alerts, view menus, and apply for free & reduced meals. You cannot make payments on student accounts through SchoolCafe. SchoolCafe can be accessed at or you can download the smartphone app in your app store. Note: Restrictions carry over from previous year unless action is taken on the students account in SchoolCafe.   If logging in for the first time, you will need to create a NEW username and NEW password. Your Campus Portal username and password will not work in SchoolCafe. Instructions to make an account and link your child(ren) to the account can be found here. Your child may also set up their own account in SchoolCafe to have access to their balance and menus. Create an account the same way except choose “I’m a student” on the Registration page.
  2. Meal Eligibility Applications (Free or Reduced meal apps) Don’t forget to apply!  Apply online through SchoolCafe! Step by step instructions as well as a short video can be found here.
  3. Online Meal Payments Meal payments are processed through RamMall. No payments are taken through SchoolCafe. If you made online payments before, use your same log-in and password as you have before. If you have not, you must create an account before payment can be made. Once logged in, you will need your child(ren)’s school ID# (found on your Campus Portal) and last name to link their SEP meal account to the payment system. Step by step instructions can be found
  4. here. Auto-replenishment feature – Never receive low/negative balance emails from SEP! Set it and forget it!  Set payments to auto-replenish your child(ren)’s account once it reaches a balance determined by you.  Learn more about auto-replenishment here.
Low balance reminders from RevTrak-  Instructions to set low balance reminders can be found here. Note: It may take up to 30 minutes for a payment to post to a student’s account. We will not allow charges (breakfast and/or a la carte items) to accounts unless there is sufficient funds showing in the account at the time of purchase.
Low-balance reminders – Low balance reminders will be emailed Sunday-Thursday based on these criteria: Free eligible < $0, Reduced eligible ≤  $3.00 and Paid eligible ≤ $10.00. You are able to set up additional reminders based on your own determined account balance status through SchoolCafe and/or RevTrak(RamMall).
  5.  NEW Menus – All menus can be found on SchoolCafe now rather than Nutrislice. You must have an account with SchoolCafe to view the menu.  For more information on how to register and the benefits to using SchoolCafe for your menus click here for steps to register. Elementary menus for download may be found on the Breakfast and Lunch Menus page. ( – Departments – Food and Nutrition Services – Breakfast and Lunch Menus). Breakfast and lunch are offered daily. *Menus will be up soon.
  6. Join us for lunch – We encourage you to join your child(ren) for lunch. We ask that you call the school office by 9 a.m. to notify the kitchen of your attendance. All parent/visitor meals will be charged to their SEP child’s meal account or payments can be made to the school office. There must be sufficient funds in the child’s account to cover the adult meal. Adult lunches are $3.75.
  7. IMPORTANT FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS & PARENTS Last year a new procedure was implemented in the cafeteria for tracking meals purchases. Lunch tickets were removed and students were required to state their name to the cashier. Moving forward there will be no more lunch tickets. Each student must state their name in this format: Last initial, First name (example: S, Bob). Please work with your child before school starts on stating their name in this format! We greatly appreciate the preparation and help!

If you have questions or concerns, please email or call Cheryl Thomas, Food & Nutrition Services Admin Assistant 515-957-3432 or Amy A’Hearn, Director of Food & Nutrition Services at 515-957-3431.

Thank you. We are looking forward to seeing your child(ren) in a few short weeks!
