Proposed Wednesday Schedule Change – Discussion on Hold
The Board of Education wants to thank everyone who completed the survey regarding its proposed change to the current Wednesday schedule, and has carefully considered the feedback you have provided. After thoughtful discussion, the Board has decided to table this issue for further study.
The Board recognizes the timing being late in the school year, the importance of coordinating future changes, and believes it is important to take additional time to more thoroughly explore options and ensure that any future decision is well-informed to meet the needs of our students, staff, and community.

The district is considering a change to our Wednesday school schedule beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
Currently, our Wednesday schedules differ between elementary and secondary schools. Secondary students begin two hours late, while elementary students are dismissed two hours early. While both schedules provide valuable professional development and collaboration time for staff, the difference between levels can create confusion and operational challenges.
We are proposing a change that would create a consistent schedule across all grade levels. Under this proposal, all K-12 schools would operate on a two-hour late start every Wednesday. Elementary schools would no longer have a two-hour early dismissal on Wednesdays. This time would continue to be used for teacher collaboration and professional learning that supports high-quality instruction for students.
This adjustment would also help simplify the schedule for families, improve transportation efficiency, increase opportunities for collaboration among staff across grade levels, and provide greater flexibility during inclement weather.
We recognize that schedule changes can impact family routines, and we value the input of our staff, families, and community. As we consider this proposal, the District is conducting a brief survey to gather feedback and perspectives before making any decisions.
The Board of Education will review the proposed change and feedback. The public hearing on April 23, 2026, has been canceled.
