Career Exploration Conversation Over Lunch: A Recipe for Success!

The SEP High School RISE Class’ Business and Arts Career Exploration Lunch and Learn event was a huge success! The second event in the Lunch and Learn series – held during the three high school lunch periods – had dozens of local businesses set up shop at tables around the perimeter of the high school cafeteria. Thanks to a collaborative effort between our High School College and Career Transition Counselor Danielle Harris, High School Instructional Coach Jenny Crawford, and the High School RISE class, students had a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths –  without ever leaving the lunchroom!

Participating companies offered insight into fields like human resources, cosmetology, real estate, finance, entrepreneurship, culinary arts, accounting, crop science, sales, marketing, court reporting and more!  Students were able to ask questions like, “What’s it look like to do your job every day? How can I get into this field?” Businesses brought interactive games and plenty of swag, making the event both educational and engaging.

In addition to reaching out to businesses, and organizing, promoting and facilitating the event, the RISE class created this fun highlight reel to capture the experience: RISE Business and Arts Lunch and Learn
