Safety and Security

It is the policy of the Southeast Polk Community School District to maintain a learning environment that is free from bullying and harassment.  Harassment includes, but is not limited to, race, color, national origin, gender, disability, religion, creed, age (for employment), marital status (for programs), genetic information (for employment), sexual orientation, gender identity, and socioeconomic status (for programs) in its educational programs and its employment practices.  The school district includes school district facilities, school district premises, and non-school property if the employee or student is at any school sponsored, school approved, or school-related activity or function where students are under the control of the school district or where the employee is engaged in school business.  Violations of the district policy or procedure will be cause for disciplinary action up to and including expulsion or dismissal. 

Students or employees who feel they have been bullied or harassed are encouraged to contact Joseph M. Horton, Associate Superintendent, at 407 8th St SE, Altoona, IA 50009 or by phone              at 515-967-4294, or a Building Principal.  Procedures for addressing the alleged bullying and harassment by school personnel are outlined in Board Policy 108-00 Anti-Bullying/Anti-Harassment Policy.
