FCCLA Students Shine at Leadership Conference

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference

Congratulations to our 20 Southeast Polk students who competed in the Iowa Events or STAR Events under the guidance of Aimee Marasco, High School Family and Consumer Science teacher! The competition was tough, but our students came home with the hardware. See the amazing accomplishments they achieved:

♦ Mackenzie Kokke is the new 2026-2027 Iowa FCCLA President!

♦Southeast Polk FCCLA Chapter earned Gold Level Iowa Honor Chapter, bringing home a giant banner to display!

♦Caitie Archibald, Gold medal, National qualifier in Teach & Train Star Event
♦Caitie Archibald, 1st place in Toys that Teach Iowa Event

♦Jax Schimming, Gold medal in Job Shadow Star Event

♦Autumn Kokke (9th), Gold medal, National qualifier in Fashion Construction Star Event

♦Mackenzie Kokke, Gold medal, National qualifier in Leadership Star Event
♦Mackenzie Kokke earned a $1,000 scholarship from Iowa State University’s Department of Human Services for her Leadership STAR Event.

♦Jennifer & Patricia Nimely, Silver medal in Chapter in Review Display Star Event


♦LeVaigh Wilborn, Silver medal, National qualifier in Leadership Star Event

♦Southeast Polk Team 2 took 2nd place in the Iowa FCCLA Knowledge Bowl — Michelle Menyon, Jariah Anderson, Patricia Nimely, Jennifer Nimely, and LeVaigh Wilborn
Team 1 (Caitie Archibald, Jordan Evans, Amina Tica, Mackenzie Kokke, Jocelyn Ramirez) made it through the first few bracket rounds as well!


♦Chloe Chanthavong, Bronze medal in Fashion Design Star Event

♦Claire Jankowski, Bronze medal in Repurpose & Redesign Star Event


♦Autumn Kokke, 3rd place in Fashion Sketch Iowa Event

♦Amina Tica & Jocelyn Ramirez, 3rd place in Thematic Table Design Iowa Event


♦Nevaeh Cam earned a scholarship for our chapter for her Power of One Peer Education project.

♦Sophee Walls & Chloue Arcenal (both 9th) were 2 of 5 members selected for Capture Crew at the conference, taking pictures, video & interviewing members!

♦Mackenzie Kokke, Nevaeh Cam, and Jordan Evans participated in the Fashion Show with 22 other members –in their $20 thrifting challenge outfits!

♦Mya Binney, Abbigail Jenkins, Nataly Guerrerro, Sophee Walls, Chloue Arcenal, Chloe Chanthavong, Jordan Evans, Nevaeh Cam, Jocelyn Ramirez, Mackenzie Kokke, Michelle Menyon, and Jariah Anderson all participated in the $20 Clothing Challenge Iowa Event along with 70 other members.


♦Michelle Menyon and Jariah Anderson competed in Thematic Table Design Iowa Event also.

♦Students were recognized for their Peer Education Projects completed throughout this school year — Nevaeh Cam, Latrisha Tran, Patricia Nimely, Jennifer Nimely, Caitie Archibald, Chloe Chanthavong, Charlie Forristall, Sophee Walls, Chloue Arcenal, Amina Tica, Jocelyn Ramirez, Ya Mon PhuThwe, Mackenzie Kokke
