Although we don’t provide a summer meal program, Altoona Kids Café, Des Moines, Saydel, Waukee, Johnston and West Des Moines School districts do. The information provided below gives details about each provider if you are interested in utilizing these. Traveling over the summer? The date is set and we are gearing up for an AWESOME summer! Join us for Altoona Kids Cafe 2019 from June 10-July 19, (closed July 4 and 5), Monday through Friday from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. Kids Cafe is located at Cross Creek 1975 8th Street SW in Altoona. (This is the building just west of Lutheran Church of the Cross) Students are required to pre-register before attending. No unregistered students will be allowed on buses without first registering. Busing is available to limited locations. Forms will be available soon through SEP Guidance staff.

The Des Moines Public School district is once again sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program, with sites providing free meals to all children 18 years of age or younger beginning June 3, 2019. There are a total of 21 meal sites throughout the community. All sites will be closed July 4-5.

Have fun, see your teachers, and eat lunch! Come join your teachers at four sites across Waukee and West Des Moines for fun, games, and lunch! Activities and lunch will be available every Monday through Friday (excluding July 4th). The fun will start June 3rd and go until August 9th. All activities and meals are free to children 18 years old and younger who visit the site. Children will not be identified and do not need to sign in in order to participate in activities or receive lunch.
