Chorus and Band Additional Information for the 2023-2024 School Year (as of 1/31/23)

Band Students, We Want You!

Students have worked diligently to learn the fundamentals on their instruments in 5th and 6th grade and are moving into an exciting level of their instrumental education next year at the Junior High. Junior High Band offers extended opportunities for not only academic band ensembles, but also extra curricular ensembles and performance opportunities. In Junior High, students will have the opportunity to play more complex compositions of music, join the Jazz Band, participate in competitions and participate in our solo and ensemble festival. In 8th grade, students will have the opportunity to play with the high school pep band at a basketball game and attend the Adventureland Festival of Bands in May. We hope that you will continue with band throughout Junior High to witness these exciting new adventures in your instrumental education!

All Singers Wanted!

Students have the opportunity to join choir starting in 7th grade. Choir is a performance based class, but students will have the chance to grow and develop into stronger musicians as well as in their confidence. Students will have the chance to work together with their classmates as a team to work towards a collective goal. In 8th grade students have the opportunity to join a flex Honor choir.  In Junior High, students also have the opportunity to join middle school show choir and musicals. Students in show choir travel and attend various well-known competitions as well as perform at SEP high school events throughout the year. Fine arts is a valued part of the curriculum at the Junior High and is also believed to be essential to have a well-rounded education both socially and academically. We hope to see your students start their singing journey on the right track!

Band or Choir-Why not both?

Students do not have to choose between band and choir, they can do both! If you would like to participate in both band and choir, follow the instructions below:

  • Sign up for band opposite of physical education.
  • Notify any of the following people to let them know that the student is interested in chorus and band (email or phone call).

Once a staff member is notified we will put the student’s name on a list.  The students on this list will have the opportunity to do chorus during flex class at SEP Junior High.
