RISE Class Coordinates 2nd Annual Healthcare and Fitness Lunch and Learn

Southeast Polk High School students had a unique opportunity to learn more about the healthcare and fitness industries with experts from the field. Through a collaborative effort between our SEP High School College and Career Transition Counselor Danielle Harris, High School Instructional Coach Jenny Crawford, and the High School RISE class, the 2nd Annual Lunch and Learn Healthcare and Fitness event was recently held.
RISE is all about hands-on, real-world learning, giving business students opportunities to explore careers, build professional skills, work with local businesses, and take the lead on meaningful projects that impact our community.
This year, our RISE students are already off to an impressive start. They’ve launched several major projects, including a couple of student-produced podcasts now available on YouTube ⁨(Go check them out @SoutheastPolkRISE) – and recently wrapped up the second annual Healthcare & Fitness Lunch and Learn event. Nearly 20 local organizations, colleges, and healthcare/fitness professionals filled the Commons during lunch, giving our students the chance to ask real questions like:
  • What’s it like to work in your field?
  • What classes should I take to prepare?
  • What does a typical day in this career look like?
It was an incredibly valuable experience for our students, and we’re so grateful for the community partners who made it possible. A huge thank-you to every business and organization that attended and invested in our students’ futures!
