My name is Kevin Walker and I’m proud to be the principal at Delaware Elementary School. I have been in the Southeast Polk District for twenty years and have been at Delaware since 2009. I am excited to work with your children on a daily basis and it’s my goal for each of them to achieve academic success as well as learning to become productive citizens. It’s my hope that each of you will become involved in your child’s schooling in some way. There is strong evidence that when parents become involved in their son or daughter’s education achievement increases and the student becomes more connected to their school. We have a number of volunteer opportunities and our PTA is always looking for new people to help with the many activities they sponsor throughout the year.
Delaware’s mission is for each student to achieve success academically and become responsible people. This won’t happen unless all staff, students and parents do their part. We expect teachers to teach the curriculum, students to stay focused and participate in class, and parents to support this work. At Delaware Elementary, we emphasize Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and students are taught the RAMS Way, (Respect, Always Responsible, Motivated Learner, Self-control/Safety) which guides students on appropriate conduct at Delaware. When students are focused and engaged in their learning, academic success will follow!
I feel very fortunate to be the principal at Delaware Elementary. Our staff is committed to providing learning experiences of the highest quality and parental support has been tremendous. Please contact me with any questions or concerns you might have about our school program. If we all work together, great things will continue to happen here at Delaware!
Yours in Education,
Kevin Walker, Principal
