SEP Staff Earn 2025 Meta Data Center Community Action Grants

We are proud to announce that three outstanding Southeast Polk staff members have been awarded 2025 Meta Data Center Community Action Grants for their innovative efforts to enhance learning and build community connections.

Mitchellville Elementary – Vireo Hydroponic Education Program

Jim Pifer Accepts Mitchellville Meta GrantThis hands-on program will help students grow more than just crops. By managing hydroponic systems, students will engage in interactive, real-world applications of math, science, and environmental studies—nurturing both knowledge and a strong sense of community. Jim Pifer, SEP PK-12 Science Coordinator accepted the award on behalf of Mr. Kielman, Mitchellville Elementary Principal.

                               

Stephanie Laird, SEP PK-12 Learning Supports Coordinator– Language Access Expansion

Stephanie Laird Accepts Mitchellville Meta Grant
This grant will provide real-time translation devices and guide systems, supporting meaningful partnerships with families and community members who speak languages other than English. This initiative helps create stronger communication for all of our families.

Steve McCoy, SEP High School Industrial Tech Teacher – 3D Printer Upgrade

Steve McCoy Accepts Mitchellville Meta Grant
Steve secured funding to upgrade an outdated 3D printer, ensuring that students stay current with industry standards while expanding their hands-on learning in design and innovation.
