Registration for the 2012-13 school year is now open. All students should register by May 18, 2012. Information can be accessed from the Student Registration tab on the right.

- District Names Steve Pettit as High School Principal
Steve Pettit was named High School Principal at the May 17 board of education meeting. Pettit currently serves as Associate Principal at SEP High School and has been employed with district since 2005. He will assume his new duties July 1.
Pettit replaces Chuck Bredlow.
- District Names Baccam as Executive Director of Business Services
Kevin Baccam was named Executive Director of Business Services and will start his work at the district July 1. Baccam, who has more than 10 years experience in public education finance, currently serves as director/controller for Des Moines Public Schools. He also served as accountant for Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System and assistant auditor for the State’s Auditor’s Office.
Baccam replaces Mike Hamilton who will retire this year.

Jump Start: Â Kindergarten Readiness ProgramJump Start is a free summer program for children entering kindergarten who have had little or no preschool experience. Your child may be able to attend if additional assistance is needed to be ready for kindergarten. Go to Central Place for more information

Tax Increment Financing Impacts School Funding
TIF is a powerful economic development tool used by cities across the state of Iowa. A study conducted by Peter Fisher and Michael Lipsman illustrates the level of use by communities in Polk County and specifically how the use by Altoona and Pleasant Hill impacts Southeast Polk Community School District taxpayers in general.

- Little Rams Preschool Application Process Begins January 23
Southeast Polk Community School District offers preschool in a welcoming classroom environment for children to learn and grow in all areas of development.
Parents interested in enrolling their child in Little Rams Preschool are reminded that the application process will open January 23. The program is open to district students who will be four by September 15, 2012.
