#1SEP staff leading the way in conservation education!🌱
✨️SEP High School Biology & Environmental Science teacher Danielle Hoenig led a breakout session titled “Beyond the Classroom: Strategies for Meaningful Outdoor Learning Experiences” at the Iowa Conservation Education ...Coalition’s (ICEC) Winter Workshop 2026, held at the Kirkwood Community College Horticulture Building. She shared practical, engaging strategies to help educators connect students with authentic outdoor learning opportunities that bring science to life. 🫶

✨️Jim Pifer, our PK-12 Science Coordinator and Iowa Conservation Education Coalition board member, assisted in planning and organizing the event. The workshop brought together classroom teachers and environmental educators from across Iowa to explore the power of collaboration and place-based environmental education. Participants left with innovative strategies for integrating local environmental themes into everyday teaching.
We’re incredibly proud of our SEP staff who not only attend professional learning opportunities but also lead them. Their expertise continues to make an impact far beyond our district. 🖤💛
