Highlights from the May 7, 2020, Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

Approvals

  • The Board approved the first reading of Board Policy 503-041R Student Conduct Code Regulation.

Presentations/Discussions:

  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Superintendent, recognized and thanked the Southeast Polk Board of Education as part of School Board Appreciation Month.
  • Amy A’Hearn, Director of Food and Nutrition Services, provided an update on the Grab and Go Meal distribution. We have served over 150,000 meals since the beginning of the school closure and now have 9 distribution sites.
  • Gary Haines, Director of Buildings and Grounds, provided an update on current custodial efforts, including disinfecting, and other building projects.
  • Jo Ellen Latham, Executive Director of Curriculum and Learning, introduced Amy Anderson, PK-12 At Risk Coordinator, who provided an overview of current and future support resources for our students and families for basic needs, mental health and Social Emotional Learning.
  • Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, led a discussion about moving forward with a bond referendum for September for the previously approved capital projects.
