Highlights from the October 15, 2020, Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

Approvals

  • The Board approved the consent agenda items.
  • The Board approved the next meeting dates of:
    • October 29, 2020 – Special Board Meeting at 5:00 p.m.
    • November 5, 2020
    • November 19, 2020
  • The Board approved the request to adjust the Return to Learn Plan to Hybrid 1 for PK-12 students beginning on November 2nd.  The District will continue to support the 100% online learning model for families who choose this model.
  • The Board approved the Resolution Directing the Advertisement for Sale, Approving Electronic Bidding Procedures and Approving Official Statement.
  • The Board approved the B101 Agreement between the District and  RDG as the architect to design and manage the construction of a new multipurpose stadium.
  • The Board approved the B101 Agreement between the District and  FRK as the architect to design and manage the construction of a new middle-level 6-7 building.

Presentations/Discussions:

  • Dr. Dirk Halupnik, Superintendent, provided his update. 
  • Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, provided an update on monthly financials.
  • Dr. Jo Ellen Latham, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, provided an update on professional learning. 
  • Southeast Polk High School Students who attended a Diversity Conference last November presented their findings to the Board.
