Highlights from the October 1, 2020, Southeast Polk Board of Education Meeting

Approvals

  • The Board approved the consent agenda items.
  • The Board approved the next meeting date of Oct.15, 2020.
  • The Board approved the request for increased modified allowable growth for submission to the School Budget Review Committee (SBRC) in the amount of $3,887,797 for the special education deficit for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The Board approved the request for increased modified allowable growth for submission to the School Budget Review Committee (SBC) in the amount of $395,246 for LEP instruction costs in excess of funding for the 2019-2020 school year.

Presentations/Discussions:

  • Joseph Horton, Associate Superintendent, presented an update on district enrollment.
  • Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, provided an update on the Certified Annual Report (CAR).
  • Kevin Baccam, Executive Director of Business Services, provided the Year-End Financial Report.
  • Steven Stotts, Altoona Elementary Principal, announced that Altoona Elementary won the national honor of Blue Ribbon School.
  • Stephen Pettit, High School Principal, presented the newly proposed high school Ram Plan and Semester Finals presentation.
  • Dirk Halupnik, Superintendent, presented updates on the Return to Learn Plan.
