Southeast Polk Represents at Des Moines Optimist Club

On the 14th of November 2017, Lauren Creger and Mitchell Rice represented Southeast Polk High School as they were recognized by the Optimists Club at a luncheon at the Sheraton Inn in West Des Moines. Mitch and Lauren along with students from 30 other schools were recognized for the contributions they have made to their school and their community. The guest speaker was Dr. Earl Martin, President of Drake University.
“John Steffen, Assistant High School Principal, shared, we appreciate all that Lauren and Mitchell do both at the school and in their spare time throughout their communities, and applaud them for being such a positive role model for other young adults.”

About the Optimist Club

This club has been actively working to make the Des Moines community a better place to live and has been “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” since 1934.

Their motto is “Friend of Youth” and our mission is to foster an optimistic way of life for the improvement of individuals and society, through a network of Optimists dedicated to service to its members, the youth, the community, and the world.
