Thank you for your patience as we continue to prepare for the upcoming school year.  This update provides information about an extension of the time period allowed for families to sign-up for remote (all online) learning, and information about the district’s hybrid learning models.

REMOTE (ALL ONLINE) LEARNING (Sign-Up Deadline Extended)

Remote Learning is a required continuous learning model that is delivered online. For details on what to expect with this learning model, click here.  Families that wish to participate in the remote learning model must complete this form. The form must be completed by no later than 4 pm, on Friday, August 14th.  A separate form must be filled out for each student. We ask those families that choose this learning model to remain in this model for the first 9 weeks.

HYBRID LEARNING

At the August 6th Southeast Polk School Board Meeting, the Board of Directors determined that all students will start the academic year in a Hybrid 2 learning model for the first two weeks of school, August 24th thru September 4th. Beginning September 8th, students in grades PK-5 will participate in a Hybrid 1 model, while students in grades 6-12 remain in the Hybrid 2 learning model.

Hybrid #1:
Students may choose to learn either in-person or remotely

  • Students/Families may choose to learn 100% remotely
  • All others learn in-person

Hybrid #2:
Students learn both in-person and remotely

  • Students/Families may choose to learn 100% remotely
  • All others will learn in an A/B Schedule – alternating days with some students learning in-person and others remotely
    • Monday, Thursday, and every other Wednesday
    • Tuesday, Friday, and every other Wednesday

HYBRID #2 SCHEDULES:

While in the Hybrid 2 learning model, students will attend based on either a “Schedule A” or “Schedule B”. Students with a last name that begins with the letters A-K will be assigned to “Schedule A”.   Students with a last name that begins with the letters L-Z will be assigned to “Schedule B”.

We recognize that some students may reside in a household with more than one last name. These students were placed in a schedule based on the last name of the youngest student (student enrolled in the lowest grade, K-12) in the household. The schedules are provided in the links below:

For information about the “Schedule A” click here.

For information about the “Schedule B” click here.

Information about the assignment of the Hybrid schedules can also be found in the Campus Portal at the following link: www.southeastpolk.org | Quick Links | Campus Portal

Building principals may be providing additional information to families about class assignments or daily schedules as we move forward.
