Martha Miller Drive Closed April 19 – August 12 for Multipurpose Stadium Work

Important Information for Southeast Polk Parents, Guardians and High School Students Regarding the Closure of Martha Miller Drive 

We are excited about the progress we are making on our new multipurpose stadium under construction just south of the high school! We are currently on track to have the stadium open this Fall!

One of the elements of the stadium is a walking tunnel that runs from the current western high school parking lot underneath Martha Miller Drive to the new stadium. This clever element allows us to utilize the current parking lot for stadium events while providing a safe walking path for all stadium goers. 

In order to construct this tunnel, a section of Martha Miller Drive (pka Meacham Drive) will be closed from Tuesday, April 19 through Friday, August 12, 2022.  We recognize that this may change some routes and timing for our staff, student drivers and buses.We are working with the City of Pleasant Hill and the D.O.T. to make this as safe and smooth as possible. 

 Here are some important facts to know about this closure: 

• Access from 75th Street (the Casey’s corner) to the high school WILL NOT be open.
• The southwest entrance off of Martha Miller Drive into the lower high school parking lot will remain open. 
• 80th Street will remain open to the public.
• The intersection at 80th Street and University Avenue will be the main entrance for all buses, all High School students and staff, Jr. High and Spring Creek staff and Jr. High and Spring Creek parents providing student dropoff/pickup. Please give yourself extra time, especially when this is new and we are working through the flow for the first several days. 
• We recommend that any drivers that can, please avoid this area between 3:00-3:20 pm – see below for possible solutions
• We will be adding crossing guards/police officers/Per Mar staff to help guide traffic at the end of each school day during the road closure timeframe.
• Bus routing will change slightly so times will be affected.

Tips to help alleviate traffic congestion

High School Student Drivers:

• Give yourself extra time to get to and from school
• If possible, use SE 6th Street to 80th Street and come in from the south side of school
• Wait to leave until all buses have left the high school parking lot
• Follow all directional signage and officer directions
• Carpool

High School Parents:

• Don’t pick up your students until after 3:20 pm, they are able to wait in the lunchroom/atrium area 
• If possible, use SE 6th Street to 80th Street and come in from the south side of school
• Follow all directional signage and officer directions
• Carpool

Jr. High and Spring Creek Parents:

• Pick up your students either immediately at 2:45 pm dismissal and be out of the parking lot by 3:00 pm or pick them up after 3:20 pm
• If possible, use SE 6th Street to 80th Street and come in from the south side of Spring Creek or use the University entrance by the old District Office, coming in on the backside of the Jr. High 
• Follow all directional signage and officer directions
• Carpool
