Spring Creek 6th Grade Center is a special place! Today, members of the Southeast Polk School Board got to see just how special. Fifteen student Rambassadors took the school board on tours around the building, stopping in classrooms, checking out the “VIP” lunch room and showing off their building. Spring Creek Leadership has worked hard to bring a positive vibe to the building and it shows!

At Spring Creek, all Southeast Polk students come together from their different elementary buildings for the first time. Spring Creek is a transitional step in the students’ academic careers so the staff works quickly to get to know the students, build relationships and get them ready to transition in one year to the Jr. High. It takes collaboration between Spring Creek, the elementary 5th-grade teachers and the Jr. High 7th-grade teachers.

Spring Creek incorporates several programs and procedures to make this happen. Some of the most awesome ones are:

*Leader in Me

*Leadership Jobs – every student is assigned a leadership job or role.

*Restorative Practices – examples include holding Circle Up sessions where students and teachers come up with topics they want to discuss including how to resolve conflict.

*WIN Time – 70 minutes daily where students get personal time with staff.

*Rambassadors – students who take additional leadership roles to help others and represent SEP and Spring Creek at different locations. Check out these 2 Rambassadors!  Rambassadors!

*And so much more!

Each month of the school year, our school board visits a different building within the district. It’s a great way for them to see our students and staff in action!
