As we close our year as Altoona Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year, we take a moment to reflect. We’re honored for the recognition we have received doing what we are passionate about doing – making an impact for generations to come and contributing to the improvement of our entire Altoona Community.

The support from our communities is what is truly outstanding. We all lean in together, rally behind each other, stand side by side in victories and hold each other up in hard times. We are grateful for how our families and businesses embrace all that is Southeast Polk.

In a recent Gallup poll survey sent to all SEP staff, there was one common thread woven throughout the fabric of who we are and what they hope never changes: the feeling of community, the way the district and our communities closely interact with each other.

So thank you!  Thank you for coming to our sporting events and fine arts performances. Thank you for supporting the referendum that allows us to continue to provide the best education to our students. Thank you for collaborating with us on your children’s education and community projects. We are humbled by the love and support we have received.

Altoona Chamber’s Annual Dinner was on April 1, 2023. Congratulations to this year’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year! Our reign as “Outstanding Citizen” may be over but we will continue to do our best to provide outstanding efforts. Let’s keep this good thing going! School Board Members at Altoona Chamber Dinner
