As we continue working together to support student success, we’d like to share a few important attendance reminders and helpful resources. Consistent school attendance and clear communication about absences are essential to keeping students on track academically.
Regular school attendance plays an important role in student success. Being present in class helps students stay engaged in learning, participate in discussions, build relationships, and keep up with assignments and assessments. While we understand that appointments and other commitments sometimes must occur during the school day, we strongly encourage families to schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible. Absent Request Portal: Our district asks that parents & guardians use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to excuse student absences whenever possible, as this is our preferred method. There are many benefits using the Absent Request Portal:
- Verify parent requests (sometimes difficult to confirm over the phone).
- Monitor and track absences.
- Submit requests in advance (entering absences ahead of time also helps minimize classroom interruptions, as teachers can see these requests when taking attendance).
- Helps teachers & staff plan ahead for early dismissals.
- Reduces miscommunication (no missed voicemails, unclear details and language barriers).
- Speeds up the check-in/check-out process for students.
- Request can be submitted using your phone (app) or computer (webpage).
- Help reduce the volume of phone calls to the front office (not that we don’t love speaking to you).
- Creates a written record of the request for both the family and the school.
- Ensures accurate documentation for attendance coding and state reporting.
- Provides timestamped submissions for clarity on when the request was made.
- Keeps everything in one place instead of relying on emails or phone calls.
- Allows multiple guardians (with portal access) to submit requests easily.
