Southeast Polk Teaching and Learning

We are committed to a collaborative culture in which educators take collective responsibility for helping all students learn at high levels.

We facilitate the collaborative work of educators to clearly articulate what students will learn through the design of units based on Iowa Core standards.

We support the monitoring of learning of each student on an ongoing basis through checking for understanding in classrooms, team-developed common formative assessment checkpoints, and district team-developed common assessments.

We provide systematic interventions that ensure students receive additional time and support for learning when they haven’t yet met the intended outcomes, and extend their learning when students have already mastered the intended outcomes.

We support reading, writing, listening, discussion, and problem solving in all subject areas.

We collaborate with teacher teams to ensure they have the resources to implement evidence-based practices in their classrooms.

We are committed to supporting learning for educators through professional development.

We have a strong partnership with families and the community to support the learning of students.

We prepare students through awareness, exploration, preparation, and training activities for their college and career goals.
