We are pleased to announce that our Southeast Polk School Board Vice President, Ric Powell, has been awarded by the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of Year.
Ric Powell is a well-known leader in Eastern Polk County. He has dedicated his life to making a positive impact on every community fortunate enough to have him work, coach, or volunteer with them. Pleasant Hill is privileged that he has called our community home for the past 17 years. Powell currently serves as Vice-President of the Southeast Polk School Board and Chair of Good Government for Pleasant Hill. He is an advocate for the community’s growth, safety, and education and expects nothing in return for his hard work. The Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce is delighted to award the 2022 Citizen of the Year Award to Ric Powell.
“Ric is not one who simply talks about civic duty, but humbly shows up to create a community that is better and stronger than the day before,” says Becca Squiers, Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “In an age when many focus on problems, Ric focuses on the opportunities of the possibilities.”
Other recent Southeast Polk projects Ric has spearheaded include grant-writing and collaborations with Polk County resulting in two new elementary playgrounds – one at Delaware and one at Runnells. The next playground on his list: Four Mile!
Congratulations VP Ric!
