Carol Eddy Welcomed Back as Next Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

The Southeast Polk Community School District is proud to welcome Carol Eddy back as its next Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning! She’s someone who already knows what it means to be part of the RAM Fam.

Carol’s journey with Southeast Polk began early in her career as a student teacher, then she taught, coached and held building leadership roles at the Southeast Polk Jr. High. Over the past two decades, she has remained closely connected to the district as a resident and parent. Now, she returns in a district leadership role, bringing both professional expertise and a personal commitment to the community she calls home.

“I am honored to return to the Southeast Polk Community School District, a place that holds profound professional and personal significance for me. My journey in education began right here as a student teacher, and I have spent the last two decades as a resident and parent within this community. Returning to the district, specifically to the very building where I started my teaching career, truly feels like coming home,” Eddy shared. ” I am incredibly eager to give back to the schools and the community that have given so much to my family and my career.”

Throughout her career, Carol has built a strong foundation of leadership experience across central Iowa, serving in roles that include elementary, middle, and high school administration (including leading an alternative high school), as well as district-level leadership. After starting at Southeast Polk, Eddy served in the PCM Community School District and the Ankeny Community School District. Most recently, she has been serving as the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning in Johnston, where she supported instructional growth and student achievement across the district.

No matter where she has served, her focus has remained the same: creating opportunities for every student to succeed and supporting the educators who make that possible.

“We are excited to welcome Carol back to Southeast Polk as our new Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. From a highly competitive pool of candidates, Carol distinguished herself through her deep understanding of PK–12 teaching and learning, her strong background in curriculum and instruction, her ability to build meaningful relationships, and her genuine enthusiasm for the Southeast Polk community,” shared incoming Superintendent Dr. Tony Aylsworth.

Carol earned her Superintendent Licensure from Drake University, her Master of Education from Iowa State University, a Bachelor of Arts from Grand View University, and a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University.

Carol’s connection to Southeast Polk is a family affair. Her husband, Matt Eddy, served as Southeast Polk High School’s Agriculture teacher for many years, and they have raised their four children here over the last 20 years. With one son who proudly graduated from SEP and three children currently enrolled here – a sophomore, a freshman, and a fifth grader – their family is deeply embedded in the RAM community.

Southeast Polk is excited to welcome Carol back home and looks forward to the leadership, care, and commitment she will bring to our schools and community.
