High School Announcements – September 14th, 2026

⇒ Schedules/Information

  • Chromebooks: 

If your student has not picked up their Chromebook for the year, they may collect it from the counseling office during a break in their schedule. Please note Chromebooks are only being issued to students who are new to the district this year.

    • Chromebook Issues: Students experiencing trouble logging in to their Chromebook should visit the Assistant Principals’ office.
  • Building Hours:
    • The Building opens at 6:45 AM
    • The Commons doors open at 7:15 AM

Students arriving before 8:00 AM who are not attending MTSS must take a seat in the commons.

  • Regular School Hours:
    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: 7:30 AM-2:45 PM. Doors lock at 8:10 AM.
    • Wednesdays: 9:30 AM-2:45 PM. Doors lock at 9:35 AM.

South East Polk High School has a closed-campus policy. This means students may not leave the building during the school day without prior approval.

  • Free Breakfast
    • On Thursday, September 24th, Southeast Polk Food and Nutrition Department will offer free breakfast to students district wide. Students can simply go through the breakfast line as normal.

⇒ Student Parking Information

All students who drive to school must register their vehicles each school year (see instructions below) and display their parking tag on the rearview mirror. If this has not been completed students need to make time to get the registration process completed ASAP. Campus Security will begin issuing $20.00 parking tickets to vehicles parked on campus without valid registration. Please ensure your vehicle is registered and the parking tag is clearly displayed on the rear-view mirror.

Students may pick up their parking pass in the Assistant Principals’ Office, during school hours, once the registration process has been completed. To ensure that process goes smoothly, please make sure all steps below are completed and that students have their driver’s license with them.

  • Steps to Register and Obtain a Parking Tag:
    • Step 1: Complete the Student Parking Tag Electronic Form
    • Step 2: Log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to pay the $5 parking tag fee. Navigate to Fees → Optional Fees → Add to Cart. Students may also bring cash to the Assistant Principals’ Office to complete payment.
    • Step 3: Stop by the Assistant Principals’ Office to pick up your parking tag.
  • Important Parking Information:

Students should NOT park in visitor spaces, numbered parking spaces, or on the grass. Violations will result in a parking fine.

    • 10th Grade – Park in the lots North of the baseball stadium on the East side of 80th Street. They may also park in the lot between the district office and the junior high.
    • 11th & 12th Grade – Park in the designated student spaces in the high school parking lot. Student parking is available on a first-come, first served basis.
      • If the high school parking lot is full, overflow parking is available across the street at the Junior High.
      • The stadium parking lot is also available to students in grades 11-12. However, on Fridays when there is a home football game, all vehicles must be removed no later than 3:15 PM.

  • Honors Diploma
    • Seniors planning to earn an Honors Diploma should complete this form so we can verify you are on track and ensure you are added to the list to be recognized at the Honors Assembly and Graduation in May.
  • Military Child of the Year Award
    • Operation Homefront sponsors the 2027 Military Child of the Year Award. The Military Child of the Year Award is open to 7 recipients who are military children between the ages of 13-18 years old. Each brand of the military awards 1 recipient with $10,000.00 cash, a laptop, other donated items, and a 3-day trip to Washington D.C. with their families. The awards are open to Active Duty, Reserves, Gold Star, National Guard, and Retired Military Children.   • Attend Iowa’s Largest College Fair 
  • Christian College Fair
    • Meet admissions personnel, gather important financial aid information, and explore wide variety of Christian Colleges and Universities. Join us at Pella Christian High School on September 21st, 6:30-8:30pm. All college-bound students and their families are welcome. Admission is free. Click here for more information. Registration in advance is highly recommended.

⇒ Attendance Reminders

  • Absence Requests: If your student is going to be absent, late, or leaving early, please notify the Attendance Office by submitting an Absence Request through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

The portal can be accessed on a computer or through the mobile app and is the preferred method for reporting an absence. For step-by-step guidance, please refer to the instructions for accessing the Absence Request Portal. If you are unable to access your Infinite Campus Parent Portal, you may contact the Attendance Office by phone or email:

    • Attendance coding may look different as we implement a slightly new process for appointments. Please be aware of our attendance coding procedures for appointments

      • Students who are absent all day or unable to visit the Attendance Office may turn the note in the following day or email it to attendance_hs@southeastpolk.org.

  • Activities Attendance Policy: Students and parents are encouraged to review the Activities Attendance Policy for complete details on attendance requirements and end-of-day participation eligibility. Please take time to review this policy and familiarize yourself with it.
    • Attendance coding may look different as we implement this new process. Please be aware of our attendance coding procedures for appointments:
      • Students dismissed for an appointment will initially be marked as FAMp (Family Business).
      • Upon providing official medical documentation to the Attendance Office, the record will be updated to MEDa (Medical Appointment).
      • Students who are absent all day or unable to visit the Attendance Office may give their medical note directly to their coach.
  • Student Activity Passes: Student Activity Passes for the 2026-2027 school year are now available for purchase! Passes provide free admission to all regular-season home athletic events for just $50 (K-8) or $70 (grades 9-12).  The athletic pass for students in grades 9-12 also includes admission to CIML away games.

⇒ Homecoming Week (9/28/2026-10/03/2026)

Get ready for Homecoming 2026: Y2k Style!

Homecoming Week is officially happening from September 28th through October 3rd.

This year, we are throwing it back to the turn of the millennium with our Y2k (Year 2000) theme!  Inspired by bold fashion, boom of pop music of the early 2000s, high energy, and iconic outfit choices. Think Britney Spears, flip phones, baggy jeans, cheetah print, and NSYNC! Grab your best throwback gear and get ready to celebrate Y2K all week long and pack the stands to cheer our football team to victory!

  • 🗓️ Homecoming Event Details and Registration Information:
    • Information and Sign-ups for upcoming SEP Homecoming traditions – including RAM Games, Powderpuff Football, and Homecoming Dance tickets – will be released over the next few weeks. Keep and eye out for details on how to participate, and check back next week for specific dates, times, and locations!

⇒ Building Entry Reminders

  • Students: Students will need their student ID (campus mobile app or ID card) to enter the High School after the doors lock at 8:10 AM. Students must enter the building through the designated entry doors: Main entrance on east side of the building or the West Entrance.  If you are late or returning from an appointment, please use the scanner to check in so your attendance is accurately recorded.
  • Visitors: When visiting the High School during school hours, please park in the designated visitor parking space on the east side of the building. Enter through the Main Entrance east doors to receive a visitor badge. Our door attendants will assist you. For security purposes, you will need to provide your driver’s license to receive a visitor badge.

  • Infinite Campus Parent Portal is the platform used to stay up to date with your student’s school activity, and we highly recommend using this tool. Through Infinite Campus, you can request absences for your student, view schedules, grades, attendance, reports, missing assignments, and more.
    • We’ve included a helpful video to assist you in using this powerful tool.

⇒ Picture Dates/Jostens Information

  • Picture Day: having a student picture taken is an important part of the school year. Student photos are required for student identification cards and the yearbook. If a picture has not yet been taken, there are still opportunities to have one taken on one of the remaining picture dates listed below.
    • Retake Day: Thursday, October 1st: 7:30-11:00 AM
  • Jostens Information:  Jostens will email families directly with information about how to order pictures.  Click here to access the ordering website. When ordering, you will need the South East Polk High School Picture Day Event Code: FE124626, along with your student’s Infinite Campus Student ID.

⇒ Standard Reference Grading

Standards Referenced Grading (SRG) is the grading system being used at SEP High School. All courses have identified priority standards within the Infinite Campus gradebook. Teachers will collect artifacts for each standard to determine each students’ level of proficiency. Learn more about the SRG grading system.
