A milestone for the people who keep Southeast Polk moving.Dr. Justin Colbert, SEP Deputy Supt. signs a structural beam as part of the Topping-out ceremony.

District leaders, board members, and project partners recently gathered in Pleasant Hill to celebrate the topping out of Southeast Polk’s new Transportation Maintenance Facility. Before the final structural beam was lifted into place, attendees left their signatures on the steel—a tradition celebrating both construction progress and the team behind every school day commute.

Board president Chad Crabb takes a photo of the topping-out ceremony. As our district continues to grow, reliable transportation infrastructure is key to keeping students safe and on schedule. Spanning approximately 19,000 square feet, the new facility expands our operational capacity with high-capacity bus maintenance bays, dedicated parts and fluid storage, and modern staff workspaces. The project also delivers a 1,300-square-foot administrative expansion and site parking improvements.

Our thanks to Turner Construction, RDG Planning & Design, and the skilled trade partners bringing this investment in our district’s future to life.
