SEP Staff Earn 2026 Meta Data Center Community Action Grants
We are proud to announce that 4 outstanding Southeast Polk staff members have been awarded 2026 Meta Data Center Community Action Grants for their innovative efforts to enhance learning and build community connections.
Southeast Polk Community School District: To foster student research and innovation, Southeast Polk will support participation in the Iowa State Science + Technology Fair for grades six through 12. Jim Pifer, Southeast Polk K-12 Science Coordinator, accepted the award.

SEP Four Mile Elementary: To empower students, Four Mile Elementary will integrate VR headsets for immersive, hands-on learning experiences across STEAM subjects. Four Mile Principal Tami Steenhoek, Tiffany Filloon, Four Mile 3rd Grade Teacher, and Kendra Carlson, K-12 Instructional Technology Coordinator, received the award.
SEP High School: To upgrade classroom computers, Southeast Polk High School will purchase new stations for Project Lead The Way engineering classes, replacing outdated equipment. Steve McCoy, SEP High School Industrial Tech Teacher, accepted the award.

SEP Mitchellville Elementary: To enhance STEM education, Mitchellville Elementary will add a laser cutter and VR headsets, expanding access and innovation for all students. Mitchellville Principal Blake Kielman and Steve Overbergen, Mitchellville Instructional Coach, accepted the award.
Since 2015, Meta has been providing funding for nonprofits and schools – addressing critical community needs by putting technology to use for community benefit, enabling people to build strong, sustainable communities, improving local STEAM education – to support the long-term vitality of East Polk County.
