The safety of our students and staff is a top priority. We are committed to supporting and maintaining a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students at Southeast Polk.

All Southeast Polk School District school buildings are secured buildings. During the summer of 2019, we installed a second layer of security at our elementary building entrances.  This is a continuation of 2018’s summer project where the second layer was added to our secondary buildings. All exterior doors remain locked throughout the school day and there are designated entrances at each building whereby visitors are to enter during the school day. Each school has a camera to screen visitors before entering the building. All visitors are asked to check-in at the new front office security windows.

Over the past two summers, we will have invested over a million dollars in enhancing the security of our building entrances.  The funding for this project comes from our Physical Plant & Equipment Levy (PPEL) and our SAVE funds. We are also working on upgrading our security monitoring systems, lighting, badge readers and cameras.

We are committed to continually improving and enhancing security procedures and features in our buildings across the district in order to protect students and staff at Southeast Polk.
