Welcome to Southeast Polk!

We are a growing district with a proud history of excellence in academics, athletics, fine arts,
clubs, and organizations, coupled with strong community support. Our district mission is to engage
all students in learning a challenging curriculum delivered through quality instruction. This
includes a focus on the Iowa Core along with the 4 C’s of critical thinking, communication,
collaboration, and creativity necessary for student success in college, career, and civic life.

As superintendent, I am honored to uphold the strong tradition of this district and I am even more
proud of all that happens each day at Southeast Polk to help our students achieve greater levels of
success. I continue to be energized by the opportunity to serve the students, staff, parents and
community and I am looking forward to another exciting year of learning, improvement, and
growth.

I strongly believe that an effective school learning community is a safe place that is focused on
promoting the success of all students, is open and conducive to meaningful change, and is
constantly looking towards improvement and innovation. Our district continues to demonstrate a
commitment to this philosophy. Some examples to illustrate this in the coming school year
include: enhancing our efforts to collaborate and customize learning, improving our ability to
utilize technology to enhance learning, continuing to expand our STEM opportunities, integrating
college and career readiness skills throughout our program, and providing comprehensive support
to our students to ensure their overall success and resilience.

I am certain that our students deserve the best possible learning experiences and opportunities so
that they can continue to grow and achieve. In order to accomplish this, it takes a team effort. I
encourage you to be engaged in your student’s education. Visit, volunteer, support your student,
and give input on things that are going well and things that could make our system even better.
Working collaboratively as partners we can continue to improve and provide our students with the
best possible experiences and opportunities.
