The 2025-2026 board-approved academic calendar includes 1,108 instructional hours, as defined by the Iowa Department of Education. Iowa code requires a minimum of 1,080 instructional hours.

Due to winter weather, we missed two school days (13 instructional hours), bringing our total to 1,095 hours, well above the state requirement. As permitted by law and board policy, the Southeast Polk School Board has discretion to determine how to address missed time.

At the April 23, 2026, board meeting, the Board voted to waive the missed instructional hours, allowing May 28, 2026, to remain the last day of school for students.
